Sports Photography for Youth & High School Athletes

Game‑day action and portrait sessions that capture your athlete doing what they love.

For Athletes

You’ve put in the work. Early mornings, late practices, sore muscles. You deserve photos that show that.

Sports sessions can help you:

  • Build a portfolio for recruiting or highlight reels
  • Show off your team colors and gear in a powerful, dramatic way
  • Remember the feeling of stepping onto the field, court, or ice

We’ll photograph you in motion and in posed portraits so you walk away with images you’re proud to post and print.

For Parents

You only get so many seasons with your athlete. One year they’re learning the basics; the next they’re suiting up for their last home game. Phone pics from the bleachers don’t do those moments justice.

Impact Photography gives you:

  • Sharp, close‑up action photos that actually show their effort and expression
  • Portraits in full gear that look like they belong on a poster, not just a school ID
  • Images you can print, frame, and share with grandparents and friends

Whether it’s youth sports, JV, varsity, or club, these are the photos you’ll still be looking at years from now.

Game-Day Coverage

Want photos of your athlete in live action?

I can come to the game you choose and focus on your player:

  • Tight, in‑the‑moment action shots
  • Key plays, celebrations, and candid sideline moments
  • Delivered in a private online gallery where you can pick your favorites

I respect each school’s and league’s photography rules, and I follow any media or photo permissions in place for youth athletes.

Sports Portrait Sessions

Prefer a dedicated session instead of (or in addition to) game coverage?

We can schedule a custom sports portrait session:

  • At your field, court, gym, or another meaningful location
  • In full uniform and gear (helmets, bats, sticks, balls, instruments, etc.)
  • With both classic portraits and more dramatic “poster‑style” shots

These sessions are perfect for senior athletes, season milestones, or end‑of‑career keepsakes.

Sports Photography FAQ

What types of sports do you photograph?

I photograph most field, court, and rink sports: football, hockey, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, track & field, wrestling, and more. If your athlete plays something less common, just ask. If I can safely access the venue and get good angles, I’m happy to cover it.

Do you shoot full games or just my athlete?

Both options are available. For some families, I come to a specific game and focus on one athlete, capturing their key plays and sideline moments. In other cases, I’ll cover more of the game and include extra images of teammates. We’ll talk through what you want when you book so expectations are clear.

What ages and levels do you work with?

I photograph youth, middle school, high school, and adult recreational athletes. The approach is the same at every level: respectful, family‑friendly images that highlight effort, sportsmanship, and the love of the game.

What areas do you serve?

Impact Photography is based in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and serves Northwest Minnesota. Sessions within roughly 50 miles are included. Travel beyond that is available with a standard mileage fee.

How do we book a sports session or game?

Call or text me at 218‑688‑2177 or send a message through the website with:

  • The sport
  • Your athlete’s team and level
  • Game date/time and location, or
  • Preferred date and location for a portrait session

Once we confirm the details and pricing, I’ll reserve your spot on the calendar.

What should my athlete wear and bring?

For portraits, full game uniform and gear is best: jersey, pants/shorts, socks, and shoes or cleats. Bring:

  • Main equipment (helmet, bat, stick, ball, etc.)
  • Any team warm‑ups or jackets you want in the photos
  • A backup jersey or shirt, if available

For game coverage, they should arrive like they normally would for a game.

Can you photograph multiple athletes or a small group?

Yes. I can photograph siblings, friends, or small groups in the same sport. Just let me know how many athletes you’d like included so I can quote the session appropriately and allow enough time.

How long does a sports session take?

Game coverage typically runs for the portion of the game we agree on in advance. Portrait‑only sessions usually take about 30–60 minutes, depending on locations and outfit changes.

How do we see and order our photos?

After I’ve culled and edited your images, I upload them to a private online gallery. You’ll receive a secure link where you can:

  • View all of your athlete’s photos
  • Favorite the ones you love
  • Order digital files, prints, and other products

How long until we get our photos?

Most sports galleries are ready within 1–2 weeks. During especially busy seasons, I’ll give you an updated estimate when you book.

Can we use the photos on social media or for recruiting?

Yes. When you purchase digital files, you receive permission to share them on social media and to use them for personal highlight reels or recruiting profiles. If you need them for anything beyond personal or recruiting use, just reach out, and we can discuss it.

What happens if the game is canceled or the weather is bad?

If a game is canceled or weather conditions prevent good photos, we’ll reschedule for another mutually available date. There’s no penalty for rescheduling due to weather or school/league changes.
